How are you guys? I hope you are doing well and having an amazing reading month. You might have noticed that I missed posting last week and that’s because life has been kind of hectic lately.
I’m technically on vacation but I was also actively seeking out jobs and I finally found one for the month of August! It’s going to be my first time ever working as an Occupational Therapist and I’m incredibly excited but also a bit terrified. The paperwork I had to get done for the job was endless though, which is what has kept me busy but I think everything is done now so I can’t wait to start working next week!
I’d like to address the current situation with J.K Rowling. I do not support her, nor her actions anymore and I won’t be promoting Harry Potter content from now on. I think her actions were disgusting and offensive and I don’t want to support a person like that in any way.
That being said, I’m going to leave some links of different discussions that have been taking place in the blogsphere about this, and about separating the author from their work that I think do a much better job than I ever could regarding this topic:
Lori writes about this here.
Kay shares her thoughts in this post.
Chana addresses this topic in here.
Since the N.E.W.T.s. readathon is based on the exam of the Harry Potter Universe, the host BookRoast has announced that she will no longer continue to host this readathon in the future, instead she is going to come up with her own version of it. She explains everything in this video. However, she did say that she’s going to put the prompts for the N.E.W.T.s as a way of closing this cycle as the last NEWT’s and OWL’s readathons.
This was actually my first year participating so I am going to try and finish the prompts, however this will be the last time I feature HP content on my blog.
Since all of this happened, Book Roast altered some rules to be a bit more flexible and you can now do this second part, which originally takes place during the month of August, whenever you want to and for as long as you’d like to.
Since I completed the OWLs needed to become a Librarian as a career, and also the OWLs needed to become an Animagus (which was an extracurricular course) I’m going to divide the Readathon in two months. In the month of August I’m going to complete the NEWTs for Librarian, and in September I’ll focus on the ones required for Animagus. So keep an eye out for those TBR’s coming up really soon!
Are you guys participating on this last NEWTs readathon? Let me know!
Until next time,
