Top 5 Tuesday: Books that made me laugh

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekely post created and hosted by the lovely Shannah at Bionic Book Worm. She’s an abslute sweetheart and her blog is amazing so make sure to check out her blog if you haven’t yet!

This week’s topic is Top Five Books that made me laugh!

5. Radiance (Wraith Kings #1) by Grace Draven24473763

This is a new adult romance set in a fantasy world that I read back in February and, while the subplot and the politics didn’t wow me, the relationship the two MC have is the funniest relationship I’ve read about.

In this world there are two different species that live together in some sort or “peace” that’s not very strong and doesn’t look like it’s going to last. Therefore, the human princess has to marry the prince of the Kai (a sort of allien species). The thing is, for the Kai people, humans look absolutely hidious and for the humans, the grey skin, black eyes, sharp teeth and long pointy fingers of the Kai look nothing short of disgusting.

These characters find each other repulsive but they become friends and they make fun of each other constantly. That’s what I loved about this book. The bickering they have is one of the best I have read and if you want to laugh with a very unique romance I really recommend you pick this one up.

Beauy Queens4. Beauty Queens by Libba Bray

I’m currently reading this book so I feel like I’m kind of cheating since I’m not done yet, but what I have read is funny. But it’s not just a funny book, it is clever and has a very important commentary on a lot of different social issues such as race, sexism, disfunctional families, slut-shaming, transphobia… I was not expecting this to have so much quality while being a comedy with some of the most ridiculous characters I’ve read and an even more ridiculous plot.

3. Rock and Riot (Rock and Riot #1) by Chelsey Furedi

Rock and Riot

This is a graphic novel that I read last year and loved but I don’t think I’ve mentioned it before here. It is basically Grease with an ALL LGBT+ cast and it was so much fun.

I don’t remember exactly if I laughed out loud reading it but I can guarantee you I had a smile on my face the entire time.

The art is beautiful, the characters are amazing. There is so much rep here; from POC, to fat rep, trans, lesbian, gay, pan… seriously go read this.

I read it here! and the page also shows you how to support the author which deserves it so much.

2. Beard Science (Winston Brothers #3) by Penny Reid

23337872

I have talked about this book a few times already but that’s for a reason. This is the third book in the Winston Brothers series by Penny Reid which is an adult romance series the BEST adult romance series I’ve read.

This particular book in the series, and actually the one before as well, is hilarious. Cletus the MC is the funniest guy in the world and I could not stop giggling whenever he opened is mouth. It is so funny and such a good story that I have actually reread ir already this year.

I love this series a lot, it’s so funny and incredible and this is making me really want to pick up the fourth book and continue reading it.

Adulhood is a Myth1.Adulhood is a Myth by Sarah Andersen

I have never in my life related to a book in such a deep level as I relate to Sarah and her art. This character is me in every single page, and I know it’s also very relatable to a lot of people so I definitely encourage you to pick it up because I can guarantee you’ll see yourself in at least some of the sketches.

It is also one that made me laugh out loud on multiple occasions. Even now, two years after I first read it, I go back to it and reread it whenever I’m not feeling the best and it always lifts me up and puts me in such a good mood.

Have you read any of these books? Do you have any recommendations? Let me know!

Until next time,

L
