The “it really wasn’t my fault” Book Haul.

Before I begin this enormous haul, let me try to find excuses to justify the amount of money I’ve spent in these past months.

  1. It was my birthday on March, and I am extremely lucky to have the best friends and family in the entire world, so a lot of these books were gifted to me.
  2. The books I did buy myself, I bought over the course of three months. If you do the math it’s four books a month, which isn’t that bad. Although I bought six of them compulsively when I was having a very bad day.
  3. It was my friend’s fault.
  4. Said friend introduced me to two AMAZING BOOK SHOPS that are hidden in the center of Madrid and I had never gone there before and one of them IS BRITISH which means BOOKS IN ENGLISH, but not just that. NEW RELEASES IN ENGLISH FOR 10 EUROS EACH. See? A 100% my friend’s fault.

Now that we’ve established that this was something I had zero control over, let’s begin.

Birthday presents

Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire. I specifically asked for this one since I loved Every Heart a Doorway.

All Out by Anna-Marie McLemore, Natalie C. Parker, Malinda Lo and more. My mom got this for me because she’s the absolute best. Unforunately it got lost in the mail so I don’t physically have it. Yet.

Three Sides of a Heart by Natalie C. Parker, Katie Cotugno, Rae Carson, Brandy Colbert and more. This was another birthday present from my family. I’ve already started this one, I’m reading one story every night so I’ll be doing a review for it, but it won’t be for a while.

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. This beautiful 10 year anniversay edition that my friend the horrible one that showed me those book shops got me because she’s an angel.

Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller. I also asked for this one since I read the first book in the duology for my Pirate project and loved it.

To Kill a Kingdom by Alezandra Christo. Funny story, I had actually purchased this but my package got damaged and never actually delivered so when my friend gifted it to me I FREAKED OUT. I had no idea and this is one of my most anticipated releases I’m so excited!!!!!!

The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas. One of my friends gifted this to me and I had been wanting to read this since foreveeeeeeeeeeer and now I finally have it so there are NO EXCUSES. LEYRE READ THIS.

Physical books I bought

The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner. I found this in the library I mentioned above and I inmediately grabbed it. I cannot tell you the amount of times I’ve seen this book in peoples favorite books of all time lists. I had never seen if before in any other place in Madrid, so I didn’t hesitate.

The Queen’s Rising by Rebecca Ross. I got this because I like fantasy, the cover is beautiful and it was 5 euros on amazon. No regrets so far.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. This is the only book that I actually bought on January because I could. not. wait. This is hands down my most anticipated release of the entire year. I’m currently reading it, I only have 30 pages left so you can expect a review really soon.

The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James. This is the other book I got in the british library. I could not resist that cover, I just couldn’t. Plus, it was 10 euros, and that’s pretty great.

Reing of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh. I picked this one up because I hadn’t read any fantasy books with a bisexual main character and I was dying to fix this. I’ve already read it and I really enjoyed it. Review here

Darkfever, Bloodfever, Faefever and Dreamfever all by Karen Marie Moning.

Let me tell you a little story. A little bit over two weeks ago I decided to put down (for the time being) The Cruel Prince by Holly Black because I was HOOKED and I knew that the next time I picked it up I was going to finish it, even though I still had 200 pages left. You see, I had this very big examen coming up and I couldn’t spent an entire evening reading the book, so I stopped.

The thing is, it takes me an hour and a half to get to class and another hour and a half to get from class to home. Three hours a day. I needed to read something. So I saw this on Melanie’s post and thought hey, why not try out the first one and read it in this three hours I have everyday? Well that was a mistake because I GOT OBSESSED. I read the first one in like two days, and inmediatley purchased the second one and read it. So all my reasoning for not finishing The Cruel Prince? A WASTE. I’m currently in the middle on the fourth one and the obsession doesn’t seem to go anywhere.

The Wedding Dateby Jasmine Guillory. This is 2018 release adult romance novel featuring the fake-relationship trope and an interracial couple. I’ve already read this one and I really loved it, you can see my thoughts here!

Love Hate and Other Filters by Samira Ahmed is one I wanted to read as soon as it came out and I finally decided to pick it up last month. I have yet to read it but I’m super excited and it’s one I think I’ll get to really soon.

Guess who’s on a book buying ban until summer? This girl.

Until next time,

Have you read any of this books? Do you get as excited as I do when you come across new releases in your country?
